Day 58: Where the Heck have you been?

Wow so much has happened. After my last post I went up to the Upper Peninsula and saw the leaves change color.

I saw snow.

I tasted great beers.

I had more hikes than I could handle.

I slipped up a snow covered muddy mountain full of dead leaves and had a beer while looking over the summit.

Work called me back briefly and I spent 500$ on an airline ticket last minute to get back and collect a new high end laptop to work on graphics. I left my car in Chicago Illinois and flew to Palm Beach from O’hare. The drive from Marquette to Chicago was incredibly long and exhausting. I had a bit of an issue with the GPS in the city and got lost. But I was able to make my flight back home. I got to spend a week back at my childhood home and hung out with my family. It was good to see them and we only got on each other’s nerves a little bit. My friend invited me to Denver for Thanksgiving and that’s where I’ll be headed next!

When I flew back I spent a few hours in the Illinois and got to check out a few awesome restaurants and breweries.

Today I am in State Center, Iowa. Possibly the smallest town I’ve ever stayed in. I’m going to try and walk the entirety of it when the temperature goes up to 50. Right now its 21 and EXTREMELY breezy.

My plan is to slowly drive to Denver. Just 4 hours every weekend so I don’t have to take off work on Fridays. I’ll be spending a week at each location for the same reason. State Center is incredibly small. I’m living in the basement of what used to be a bank. It’s very well lit and comfortable. Warmer than other basements I’ve stayed in for sure. What makes this place unique is the red and artsy aesthetic and natural, original, rock walls. Everything is within walking distance and there’s a crazy loud train not too far from where I am staying. I look forward to capturing the charm of the town in a new video. The host was pretty awesome and the house was partially stocked when I got in. There’s even a fireplace.

I’m quite excited to start up DND again. We took a break for 2 weeks while we found a new member to the group. Ro had a death in the family and increasing responsibilities at work and had to step out. We wish her well and welcome her back any time. Tony, a friend I used to play with a few times in the past, will be helping us continue to tell the story of Storm King’s Thunder.

In regards to editing the videos down, I will continue to do so for Patreon only. It takes way too long as a single person to produce content even close to frequently. If I get more patreons I’ll continue to produce more difficult to make content in the hopes that it’s more interesting or easy to follow along.

My next destination is Grand Island, Nebraska a train history town and tornado capital of the USA. Wish me luck!
