Day 7: America the Beautiful

I got a chance to go to the painted desert and see the petrified forest or PeFo as the locals call it. Reminds me of the YOU PEA or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (UP). People have such fun ways of naming places.

This was a really easy trip that I’ve made twice already with a really cool person. The first time here I just walked around quickly before they closed. My interagency (America the Beautiful) pass has already paid for itself. I highly recommend getting one in person at certain national parks.

The best part of this trip is the 10 minute hike I went on shortly after entering the northern most entrance. It was amazing. I really hope you get a chance to watch it. I wondered how most people don’t drive their cars off the road as they’re driving through the park. But that’s a story for another time.

My next post about the grand canyon is an hour long before I go and edit it. Can’t wait for you all to see it!
